Group Page allows you to make an announcement to a group of people through the speaker of their telephones. A tone is heard at both the paging telephone and the paged telephone before the Group Page is established. During a Group Page, the paging set displays the number of the group being paged; the paged sets do not display any paging information.
See also Networked Group Page.
An attendant can initiate a Group Page but cannot receive one.
Only some phones can initiate and receive a Group page; see Feature Availability below for more information.
The Mitel 5220 Dual Mode, 5224, 5320/5320e, 5324, 5330/5330e, 5340/5340e, and 5360 IP phones support the Line Interface Module. A Group Page cannot be made or received from these phones while the Line Interface Module is in use.
A telephone can only receive a Group Page if it is idle. Any call processing activity (such as ringing or going off-hook) will terminate the Group Page at the active telephone.
You cannot page a set that is in busy or DND state. If you attempt a Group Page when all group members are in busy or DND state, you will receive the appropriate tone (such as busy, camp-on, or DND tone).
You cannot initiate a Group Page if another page to that group is already in progress.
If the COS option Group Page Accept is disabled for some members of a page group, these members will not be paged but the Group Page will proceed as usual. If this COS option is disabled for all members of a page group, you will hear reorder tone or your call will be rerouted (see Intercept Handling).
Server-based MiVoice Business platforms support up to 64 page groups. All other controllers support up to 16. You can increase support to 400 groups on all controllers by flexing system dimensions. Each group can have up to 250 members with a maximum of
32 IP Phones with the CX II or CXi II Controller (recommended 16)
64 IP Phones with the MXe III Base, AX, or EX Controller (recommended 32)
128 IP Phones with the MXe Expanded Controller (recommended 64)
250 IP Phones with server-based MiVoice Business platforms (recommended 100)
For example, on an MXe III controller, you can program 16 page groups, and each of which can have a maximum of 32 IP Phones and 218 TDM Phones for a total of 250 members.
NOTE: The number of IP Phones in a page group is limited to 50% of the available E2T or media server channels. On most systems, the actual limit will be less than the physically provisioned limit of E2T channels. Paging groups should be configured with this in mind. In addition, if the connection is across a WAN link, the number of IP Phone members may be limited by bandwidth availability.
All members of a group being paged across a network must be on the same switch.
DISA users cannot make a Group Page.
Page groups do not support SIP devices.
A Group Page cannot be placed to a set that is active on a call and muted.
The Group Admin Tool creates and manages page group containing local members only. Groups that contain remote members (as provisioned in the Sys Admin Tool) do appear in the Group Admin Tool.
When a call is established between two directory numbers, paging does not work if any of the participating directory number (DN) of the active call is on mute.
Group paging of a non-Prime member of a Multi-device User group, any member of a Multi-device Suite or an IP Device Only DN is not supported and cannot be programmed.
Ensure that COR and interconnect restrictions allow the paging and paged parties to connect.
